Yep! It’s already been one year that I (Domi) moved to Australia and it’s been a really busy, adventurous and fun year, sometimes a little bit tiring and stressful though. It’s been a long way from my life back in France and here is a banging overview of what happened during this year, what have been the best moments of this expat adventure, what good and bad aspects I’m ready to share now about being an expat in OZ.

One year in Australia, time to party. One year of French cultural events, one year of hours chilling on Adelaide beaches, one year of parties with our expat friends, one year of roadtrips around Australia. In short, many things happen over a year. So here we go for an overview of my first year in OZ.

My 5 best moments in Australia

1) Our trip to Melbourne along the Great Ocean Road

2) Our few days toasting ourselves at the beach

3) The many parties with the Frenchies (Julie, Clara, Clémence, Camille, Anna & Nico, Laurie & François)

4) A new exciting (but also full of pitfalls) expat life that I share with an amazing handsome dude

5) Meeting up with the locals (kangaroos & koalas during our numerous hiking trips) and with other cool international expats (Lina, Jenny, Jacqui & Louise)

My 5 favorite spots in Adelaide

1) Adelaide Central Market

2) Glenelg & Brighton beaches

3) Adelaide City Library

4) Adelaide cultural Precinct

5) River Torrens Linear Trail

Overview of my first year in Australia

Now that I’ve been living in Adelaide for a year, experiencing the day-to-day way of living of Adelaideans, I’m able to discuss and share my feelings about their culture and living standard compared to France. Here is a selection of good and bad points about Australia:

Wildlife in OZ (hiking trails, beaches, conservation parks, parklands around the City) La nature en OZ (randonnées, plages, parcs protégés, parcs autour de la ville) Dangerous car drivers’ behaviour Le comportement dangereux des gens au volant
Mad March & cultural life in Adelaide (many festivals, one-off street parties) Vie culturelle à Adélaïde, surtout au mois de Mars (beaucoup de festivals, de fêtes de rue) Hard time finding a job in Adelaide when you didn’t study or had a relevant work experience here Difficulté pour obtenir un emploi si tu n’as pas étudié ou eu une expérience pro ici
Outdoor lifestyle (water activities & bbq in parks and at the beach) Style de vie extérieur (activités marines et bbq dans les parcs et à la plage) Adelaideans tend to be self-centered & cliquey Les Adélaïdiens ont tendance à être égocentriques et sectaires

Key moments of crazy adventures
